Discover Crediton is a community-based project mapping local businesses, amenities, and events in and around Crediton, UK.

  • Business or amenity details to be displayed on the map
  • Email address - not displayed anywhere, only used for administration purposes
  • Descriptions, photos, or other content you choose to upload

Automatically collected information:

  • IP address, browser type, device information
  • Log data about how you use the Website (e.g. pages visited)

3. How We Use Your Data

We process personal data for the following purposes:

  • To create, manage, and secure user accounts.
  • To publish business and amenity details on the map (only the details you choose to display publicly, such as name, address, phone, and website).

4. What Information Is Public vs Private

Publicly displayed: information you provide for your business/amenity listing (e.g. business name, address, phone, website, description, and images).

Private: your account login details (including email address and password). Passwords are hashed and cannot be seen by us.

  • Service providers (e.g. web hosting, analytics, security tools).
  • Legal authorities if required by law or in response to lawful requests.

We do not transfer personal data outside the UK unless adequate safeguards are in place.

7. Data Retention

  • Account information: retained while your account is active. Deleted if your account is closed.
  • Business/amenity listings: retained while published, and deleted if you ask for them to be removed.
  • Enquiries: retained until resolved + up to 12 months.
  • Analytics/log data: retained in anonymised or aggregated form where possible.
