Crediton RFC began their league season in emphatic fashion on Saturday, scoring 57 points away at Winscombe to leave Somerset with a bonus-point victory and an immediate place near the top of Regional 2 South West.
The final score was Winscombe 19–57 Crediton, giving the visitors a 38-point winning margin in their first league fixture of the 2026/27 campaign.

Crediton crossed for eight tries during a performance that quickly turned their opening fixture into a statement result.
A Crediton RFC match account described the performance as being built on aggressive defence, a strong set piece and a willingness to attack when opportunities appeared. The club particularly highlighted the way its defensive pressure created the platform for more ambitious attacking rugby.

Okehampton also began with a win, edging Wiveliscombe 40–39, which means both sides go into the Crediton fixture unbeaten and on five league points.
That should make the first home league game a considerably tougher test than the table might suggest after only one round.
For Crediton, though, 57 points away from home is about as convincing a start as they could have asked for.
