But check times first

Great Western Railway says a track defect between Eggesford and Barnstaple means trains cannot currently run through the affected section.

Services from Exeter are continuing through Crediton and as far as Eggesford, but passengers travelling onwards towards Umberleigh or Barnstaple will need alternative transport.

GWR currently expects the disruption to continue until the end of the day.

Worth knowing

Rail tickets are being accepted on selected Stagecoach services, including routes through Crediton, Copplestone, Morchard Road and Barnstaple.

Replacement road transport has also been requested.

Passengers travelling only between Crediton and Exeter can still use the train, although GWR is advising everyone to check live information before setting out.

For anyone heading north towards Barnstaple, however, there is currently no through train service beyond Eggesford.
